Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) enables two-way communication via satellites for voice, data, and emergency services in remote and mobile environments where terrestrial networks are unavailable. MSS is used for maritime, aviation, defense, disaster management, and remote area communication.

MSS enables communication through:

  1. Mobile Earth Stations (MES) – Handheld satellite phones, ship/aircraft terminals, vehicle-mounted systems.
  2. Geostationary (GEO) or Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellites – Provide global or regional coverage.
  3. Gateway Stations – Ground stations connecting MSS users to public telephone and internet networks.
